8 Cranial Bones
Ethmoid, frontal, occipital, parietal (2), sphenoid, temporal (2)
Ethmoid bone
located at front of sphenoid bone
makes up part of nasal cavity
crista galli, cribiform plate, perpendicular plate, olfactory foramen
Frontal bone
makes up forehead
supraorbital foramen underneath frontal bone, above the orbit (eye socket)
Occipital bone
back of skull
foramen magnum - hole in base of skull that allows spinal cord to connect to brain
occipital condyle - 2 knobs on O bone
Parietal bones
on either side of head, behind frontal bone
Sphenoid bone
below frontal bone, spans width of skull and forms large part of base
Temporal bones
under each parietal bone
Parts in temporal bone
mandibular fossa - depression articulates with mandible
styloid process - pointed bone below ear
mastoid process - behind ear, attaches to neck muscles
external auditory meatus - tube from outer ear to middle ear

inferior nasal conchae (2) lacrimal (2) mandible - condylar process maxillae (2) - infraorbital foramen, palatine process nasal (2) palatine (2) vomer zygomatic (2)
