straight reflection: a simple or complex reflection in response to a clients sustain talk

- Self-directed learners–>engage client in picking a plan to close a learning gap
- prior experiences explored before education–> elicit a clients prior experiences before providing education
- likely to retain info when they are in ready to learn–> link learning to clients vision, goal, and/or action plans
- Ready to learn when they need info to cope–> apply all pieces of info shared to relevant problme centered scenarios
- Internal motiivation rather than external–> create learning opportunities to increase personal satisfaction
Cognitive behvaioral therapy
- focuses on how thoughts and feelings influence behavior
- when used in coaching, aims to help client intentionally change the way they think about life events to facilitate behavior change
