The intentional prevention of pregnancy by artificial or natural methods.

Physical and chemical.
What are physical methods of contraception?
Barrier methods
Avoiding fertile periods

Sterilisation procedures
What are chemical contraceptives based on?
Combinations of synthetic progesterone and oestrogen.
How do chemical contraceptive work?
They mimic negative feedback, preventing the release of FSH/LH which inhibits follicular development, ovulation and implantation and cause the thinning of the cervical mucus.
How does the morning after pill work?
By preventing implantation and ovulation.
How does the mini pill work?
By causing thinning of the cervical mucus.
