Contemplative traditions
Meditation, yoga and mindfulness are the base of contemplative. In traditions, it’s more of a way of life. It reduces attachment to seperate self & self image. Non-judgementally observe and acceptance
Contemplation
Thoughtful observation, deep consideration, reflection
In most religions its bout the nature of being (who am I). How does the mind operate
Vedantic/hindu
Aware of you thoughts, Clear seeing. Results in self-undertanding. if you think you are your thoughts: delusions
Vipassana (buddhism)
Clear seeing, insight meditation. about craving & aversion (motivations) investigating experience and self accept.
Mantra
Inner sound, directs attention to repetitive mantra and settles mind to clear peaceful state.
3rd wave ABT
How a person relates to the process of internal experience rather than to the content. It’s not relaxing/doing nothing. eg

Acceptance and commitment therapy ACT
Dialectical behavior therapy DBT (mostly borderline)
Strongest evidence in MDD anxiety SU and chronic pain
