CV fitness
Ability to exercise for long periods of time without getting tired.
Why do they need CV fitness
Be able to maintain a high standard of performance throughout the race/match. Without CV fitness they would tire easily which would affect their overall time and position in race.
Muscular endurance
Ability to exercise the voluntary muscles many times without getting tired
Why do they need ME
to be able to maintain high standards of performance throughout match, race. Without it they would tire easily.
Flexibility
The range of movement possible at a joint
Why they need flexibility
Be able to get into position without getting injured. A gymnast and diver may need it to perform complex movements whilst goal keeper needs is to stretch to save a shot.
Reaction time
The time taken to respond to a stimulus
Why need good reaction time
Sprinter for good start. Rugby - to catch bad pass. Badminton - react when shuttle is to return shot.
Speedy
The amount of time it takes to perform a particular action or cover a particular distance
Why need speed
Get the fasten time possible. Needed in arm to throw javelin as far as possible. Needed for power events. Betting to ball first.
Strength
The amount of force a muscle can exert against a resistance
Why strength is needed
Can help rugby players to bust through tackles. Support ur weigh in gymnastics. Lift heavier weights.
Power
The ability to do strength performances quickly
Agility
The ability to change position of the body quickly while maintaining control of the movement
Balance
Ability to retain the body’s center of mass above the base of support
