The rise in use of technology has decrease centralised shopping further

Increase on transport means that getting to retail parks and out of town shopping centres in much easier
The global transport of products has vastly improved
Gentrification
Former working class areas(Fulham) have become occupied by the middle class High income earners prefer to live closer to central than commute
Studentification
Uni expansion has lead to large areas of the city become occupied by students. Caused by overseas students
Unis bring employment(lecturers) and spending helps the regeneration of pubs, clubs, shops and buy to let properties
Culture and leisure
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
2012 Olympic Games left a legacy.
West Ham’s new stadium, the Olympic stadium is used as a venue for open air concerts
Regeneration of brownfield sites
Closure of industries(docks) means their is more space for houses and buildings
Investment from TNCs created jobs in financial and business services(Canary Wharf)
Bank of America has America-Euro Headquarters
HSBC has global headquarters there.
