Annex IV (FIRST 5)
DISTRESS SIGNALS
a. a gun or other explosive signal fired at intervals of about 1 minute.
b. continuous sounding of any Fog signaling apparatus.
c. rockets or shell, throwing red stars fired one at a time at short intervals.
d. signal made by Radiotelegraphy or by any other signaling method consisting of the group…_ _ _… (SOS) in the Morse code.
e. a signal sent by Radiotelephony consisting of the the spoken word “MAYDAY”

DISTRESS SIGNALS
.f. International Code Signal of Distress, indicated by N.C.
.g. signal consisting of of a square flag having above or below a ball or anything looking like a ball.
.h. flames on the vessel (as from a a burning tar barrel, oil barrel etc)
.i. a red rocket parachute or handheld flare.
.j. orange colored smoke signal
