Q

What is insight learning?

A

A type of learning or problem-solving that happens suddenly and without actual known knowledge of how a problem might be solved

Q

What is latent learning?

A

Type of learning that occurs without an obvious reinforcement at the time of the learning and is applied at a later time

ex. only using such information on a test later on

-Edward Tolman was the leader (concluded that reinforcement does not need to happen in order for learning to occur)

Q

What are mirror neurons?

A

Neurons which are active both when you perform a behavior and when you watch another person perform the same behavior

-allow us to learn by observing others
-basis of observational learning

Q

What is observational learning?

A

Occurs when you observe the behavior of others and make attempts to imitate what you have observed

ex. watching a tutorial on how to do something (DIY)

Q

What is vicarious learning ?

A

Explains that reinforcement and punishment received by others whom you are observing will cause you to either follow or withdraw from the particular behavior pattern

vicarious = secondhand, indirect
