Q
cog practical procedure
A
- We gathered an opportunity sample of participants from the local college
- It was an independent measures design with students randomly assigned to either doing the visual distractor task or the verbal distractor task
- We read 15 words to the participants out-loud for 1 minute
- Participants were then given a 2 minute distractor task. Either a word search where they had to find words or a pair of spot the differences to act as a visual distractor.
- They then had 2 minutes to recall as many words from the initial list as they could.
- We calculated the mean for each group and calculated a Mann Whitney U.
