Classification is dividing things into groups according to their similarities/ characteristics.
What are non-living things called and state 7 examples?
Non-living are called inorganic e.g. plastic, metal, rocks, crystals, minerals, glass, or anything man-made.
What are living things called and what processes do they perform?
Living things are called organisms, and they perform the MRS GREN processes.
What does MRS GREN mean?
Movement.
Respiration.
Sensitivity.
Growth.
Reproduction.
Excretion.
Nutrition.
Living things are divided into 2 groups: Name them.
Living things are divided into 2 groups: plants and animals.
Animals are divided into 2 groups: Name them.
Animals are divided into 2 groups: Invertebrates and vertebrates.
Define invertebrates and give 4 examples of an invertebrate.
An invertebrate is an animal lacking a backbone e.g. insects, spiders, crabs, and worms.
Define vertebrate.
A vertebrate is an animal that has a backbone extending down the back of the body.
