an educated guess to what the results would be before we see the data
what is a population?
a complete set of individuals, objects, or measurements
what is a sample?
a subset of a population
what are methods/procedures?
a set of very specific experimental actions (ensure no bias)
what is an independent variable?
the factor that will affect the result
what is the dependent variable?
the factor that is measured
affected by independent variable
what is an objective?
a way to make sure the research is based on facts, not feelings
what does it mean for research to be reliable?
makes sure the research has consistent measure, free from error
(repeatable)
how do you make sure the research is valid?
make sure the study measures what you intend to measure
