Restorative Justice
A theory of Justice that attempts to heal the harm that was done by a criminal act rather than just penalizing the actor.
Recidivism
The rate at which previously convicted offender, offended again. As of 2019, the 5 year recidivism rate in the United States was seventy percent 70%.
Mediation
A victim and offender resolving the harm through a neutral mediator.
Restorative Justice Circle
A group of community members that come together to determine a course of action to resolve the harm.
Victim Impact Panel
A restorative Justice technique that involves offenders hearing from those who were harmed in order to learn more about the consequences of their actions.
Community Reparative Boards
Community led initiatives to work with the offender to determine a course of action.
