Christianity- Judgement And Afterlife Flashcards
What do Christian’s believe is a gift from God? Why?
Eternal life, as a reward for believing in him and for positive actions.
What do most Christian’s call this state of eternal life?
Heaven. A state of pure peace/happiness.
What are the two contrasting beliefs about heaven?
Some Christian’s believe heaven is a place whilst some believe it describes being with God.
How does belief in afterlife influence Christian’s?
It gives them hope, can help them to overcome difficulties in their lives and be confident in the face of death.
What do Christian’s believe we will be judged on?
Our actions and faith.
When is judgement day?
Some Christian’s believe it is when we die, others believe we are all judged when the world ends.
What is the key teaching about judgement day?
The parable of the sheep and the goats - Matthew 25:31-46.
What does the parable of the sheep and the goats teach?
That God is just and we will be separated just as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. In the parable, the sheep represent all who have helped those in need or have given back to the world whilst the goats represent those who have acted in a selfish or unkind way. The sheep go to heaven and the goats go to hell.
