what were the results of the child practical? (3)
-scored question on a max of 5-higher score=more insecure attachment
-observed value of 0.388 at P<0.05
critical value=0.344
what were the conclusions of the child practical? (2)
- observed value larger than critical value=significant results
- there is a relationship between childhood and adulthood relationship attachment
what was the two-tailed hypothesis?
the attachment’s forms in childhood will affect adulthood relationships
what was the null hypothesis?
there will be no significance between childhood attachments and adulthood relationships
STRENGTHS of the practical? (3)
- standardised- same questionnaires with same 10 questions
- conducted pilot study-increases validity-eliminates any unnecessary questions
- collects quantitative data-can statistically analyse-compare scores and get a significance
WEAKNESSES of the practical? (3)
- social desirability- intrusive questions about relationships asked-ppts may lie to make relationships look better- reduces the validity
- small sample
- quantitative data- doesn’t gather enough detail about the complexity of relationships/attachments
