- all people with autism share certain difficulties but their condition will affect them in different ways
what is the Triad of Impairments?
the 3 factors of autism-
- social interaction e.g. poor attachments
- communication e.g. delayed language
- imagination e.g. lack of pretend play
what social issues do people with autism have?
-can’t empathize with others emotions
=don’t like being told off by parents
-can’t detect body language/facial expression
what communication issues do people with autism have?
- don’t respond to speech
- some can be completely mute
- trouble with eye contact
- delayed response to speech
what repetitive behavior do people with autism have?
-need a routine daily
what Islet of Ability do people with autism have?
some have extraordinary skills
what sensory sensitivity do people with autism have?
noise
temperature,
balance may be effected
selective food tastes
what do you have to remember about autistic people so that you don’t assume certain characteristics?
it’s on a spectrum and therefore people have certain severities of autism causing different features/ worsening of features
