explain child abuse to me
punishment is used to shape behaviour - causing a cycle as their behaviour does not improve = more prone to negative outcomes
throw me some USA stats (from children of parents who are substance abusers compared to those with parents who aren’t)
- 3x more likely to be abusers
- children under 1 are more likely to be abused
- 4x more likey to be neglected
As inequalities rise
so does child maltreatment - as poverty creates stress
why is poverty related to child abuse?
poverty causes stress and makes it harder for the parents to be good ones.

are overrepresented in poverty stats which correlates to their overrepresentation in child abuse stats
