Chemistry- Acids With Metals Reaction Flashcards
Hypothesis:
The reaction between magnesium and hydrochloric acid will release hydrogen gas and neutralize. This will be an exothermic reaction, therefore, the container will become hot.
Observation:
When the magnesium was added to the hydrochloric acid, bubbles began to form and rise out of the test tube. The flame exploded with a popping sound when brought close to the test tube. The test tube was hot after the experiment.
Conclusion:
The hypothesis was correct.
Hydrogen gas was released from the test tube, as observed by the popping flame.
The reaction was neutral the universal indicator turned green when added to the product.
This was an ectothermic reaction because the test tube was hot.
