Scale of 1-10 to evaluate a newborn infants physical status at 1-5 minutes after birth

Absence of sperm in semen
Cervical dysplasia
Growth of abnormal cells in the cervix (precancerous lesions)
Cervitis
Inflammation of cervix usually caused by infection
Chlamydia
Most commonly reported STD in US; highly contagious, requires treatment with antibiotics
Chronic villus sampling
Examination of cells retrieved from the chorionic villi
Colostrum
Specialized form of milk that delivers nutrients and antibodies for newborn baby
Colpopexy
Surgical fixation of prolapsed vagina to a surrounding structure such as the abdominal wall
Colporraphy
Suturing of a tear in the vagina
Colposcopy
Direct visual examination of the tissues of the cervix and vagina
Dysmenorrhea
Pain caused by uterine cramps during a menstrual period
Eclampsia
A more serious form of preeclampsia, characterized by convulsions & sometimes coma
Ectopic pregnancy
Dangerous condition in which a fertilized egg is implanted and begins to develop outside the uterus
Endocervitis
Inflammation of the mucous membrane lining of the cervix
Amenorrhea
Abnormal absence of menstrual periods for 3 or more months
Endometriosis
Condition in which patches of endometrial tissue escape the uterus and become attached to other structures of pelvic cavity
Epididymis
Coiled tube at the supper part of each tissue
Episiotomy
Incision made through perineum to enlarge vagina to prevent tearing of the tissues as infant moves out of birth canal
Fibroadenoma
Round, firm, rubbery mass that arises from excess growth of glandular & connective tissues in the breast
Fibrocystic breast disease
Presence of single or multiple benign cysts in the breasts
Galactorrhea
Production of breast milk in a woman who isn’t breastfeeding
Hemospermia
Pretense of blood in seminal fluid
Hydrocele
Fluid-filled sac in scrotum along the spermatic cord leading from testicles
Hypomenorrhea
Unusually small amount of flow during a shortened regular menstrual period
