Chapter 6 -Joints Flashcards
What are the three types of joints?
- Fibrous
- Cartilaginous
- Synovial
What are the three types of functional classification?
- Synarthrotic
- Amphiarthrotic
- Diarthrotic
What are the fibrous joints?
Only fibrous connective tissue anchors the joint together
What are the cartilaginous joints?
Only cartilage anchors the joint together
What are the synovial joints?
Many different tissues/structures are present, such as articular cartilage, joint capsule, synovial fluid, and ligaments.
What is the functional synarthrotic joint?
Means No movement
What is the functional amphiarthrotic joints?
Some movement
What is the functional diarthrotic joints?
Free movement
What are the 9 parts of a typical synovial joint?
- Periosteum
- Medullar cavity
- Yellow marrow
- Ligament
- Fibrous capsule
- Synovial membrane
- Joint capsule
- Joint cavity (filled with synovial fluid)
- Articular cartilage
What is the structural complexity from the bones of the shoulder joints? (Bony and cartilaginous structures) (7)
- Intertubercular groove
- Greater tubercle
- Lesser tubercle
- Articular cartilage on head of humerus
- Acromion
- Coracoid process
- Articular cartilage in glenoid cavity
What is the structural complexity from the bones of the shoulder joints? (Ligaments and bursae) (7)
- Glenohumeral ligament
- Coracohumeral ligament
- Coracoacromial ligament
- Acromioclavicular ligament
- Coracoclavicular ligament
- Tendon of the biceps brachii
- Bursae
The acromiocavicular comes in contact with?
The clavicle
What are the three ligaments of the hip joint?
- Iliofemoral ligament
- Pubofemoral ligament
- Ischiofemoral ligament
What are the three elbow joints?
- Radial collateral ligament
- Annular ligament
- Ulnar collateral ligament
What are the 10 knee joints?
- Tibial (medial) collateral ligament
- Fibular (lateral) collateral ligament
- Oblique poplietal ligament
- Arcuate poplietal ligament
- Lateral meniscus
- Medial meniscus
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)
- Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL)
- Patellar ligament
- Quadriceps femoris tendon
