Chapter 3 - Tissues Flashcards
What are the four types of tissues?
- Epithelial
- Connective
- Muscle
- Nervous
What does the nervous tissue?
Internal communication, contains neuron which have electrical tissue
Which parts of the body contains nervous tissue?
- Brain
- Spinal Cord
- Nerves
What does the Muscle tissue?
Contracts to cause movement
Which parts of the body contains muscle tissue?
- Muscles attached to bones (skeletal)
- Muscles of heart (cardiac)
- Muscles of walls of hollow (smooth)
Muscles attached to the bone are…
- Consciously controlled (voluntary)
Muscles of the hart are…
Nonvoluntary
Muscles of walls of hollow organs (smooth)
Nonvoluntary
What does the epithelial tissue?
Forms boundaries between different environments, protects, secretes, absorbs, filters.
Which parts of the body contains epithelial tissue?
- Lining of digestive tract organs and other hollow organs
- Skin surface (epidermis)
What does the connective tissue?
Supports, protects, binds other tissues together ( MOST DIVERSE)
Which parts of the body contains connective tissue?
- Bones
- Tendons
- Fat and other soft padding tissue
What are the six types of epithelial tissue?
- Simple Squamos Epithelium
- Simple Cuboidal Epithelium
- Simple Columnar Epithelium
- Pseudostrafied Columnar Epithelium
- Stratified Squamous Epithelium
- Stratified Transitional Epithelium
What does ti mean simple and stratified?
- Simple: Single layer
- Stratified: Multiple layers
What is the location of the Simple Squamous Epithelium?
Kidney glomeruli; air sacs of lungs, lining of heart, blood vessels, and lymphatic vessels; lining of ventral body cavity (serosae.
