Blood is a specialized type of connective tissue because it contains cells, fibers, and liquid ground sibstance

Consist of:
Erythrocytes (Red Blood Cells)
Leukocytes (White blood cells)
Thrombocytes (platelets)

White blood cells

What is the buffy coat?
The space between the plasma and erythrocytes. Contains leukocytes and platelets

Granulocytes
Agranulocytes
What are the three types of granulocytes from the leukocytes?
Neutrophil
Eosinophil
Basophil
What are the two types of agranulocytes?
Lymphocyte
Monocytes
What is the function of the leukocytes?
Defend the body against various pathogens, such as bacteria and viruses
