Function: Protection of underlying tissue
Location: Skin

18
Q

Identifty Tissue, function, and bodily location?

Function: Diffusion
Location: Lungs, Alveoli

20
Q

Identifty Tissue, function, and bodily location?

A

Smooth Muscle
Function: Propels substances and objects along internal passageways.
Location: Walls of hallow organs

21
Q

What are the four types of membrane and their functions?

A

Cutaneous: Skin
Mucous: Membranes that line body cavities that are open to the exterior.
Synovial: Line inner surface of free moving joints.
Serous: Line the body cavities that are not open to the exertior.

22
Q

Exocrine

A

Secrete substances into ducts that lead to the body surface or organs.

23
Q

Endrocrine

A

Secrete substances directly into the blood stream.

24
Q

Merocine

A

Secrete substances through exocytosis.

25
Q

Apocrine

A

Secretion by pinching off an apical portion of the cell, causing the cell to lose cytoplasm

26
Q

Holocrine

A

The secretory cell ruptures releasing secretions and dead cell fragraments.

27
Q

Extra Cellular Matrix

A

The area surrounding cells in connective tissue. Can include protein fibers like collagen, elastic, and reticular. There is also the presence of ground substance, which can include a wide variety of things, including proteoglycan and hyaluronic acid. These attract water and give spring to the connective tissue.
