What is SeDs?
Sedentary Death Syndrome a group symptoms associated with sedentary living including low cardiovascular fitness, muscle weakness, low bone density, and poor metabolic fitness
What is coronary heart disease?
Disease of the heart muscle and the blood vessels that supply it with oxygen (heart attack)
What is MI?
Myocardial Infraction aka Heart attack
How does the heart rate respond to cardio exercise?
people who regularly do physical activity typically have lower resting heart rates than this who do not. 30-40 bp is considered healthy and fit.
What is cholesterol?
fat in the blood
What is HDL?
High Density Lipoprotein which is a blood substance that picks up cholesterol and helps remove if from the body “good cholesterol”
What is LDL?
Low-Density Lipoprotein which is the core of cholesterol surrounded by protein “bad cholesterol”
What are lipids?
All fats and fatty substances
What is the parasympathetic nervous system?
Slows the heart rate
What is the sympathetic nervous system?
Prepares the body for activity by speeding up the heart rate
What is hypertension?
high blood pressure or pressure against the walls of the arteries that can cause damage to the heart, kidneys, and other organs
Systolic
working blood pressure and represents blood pressure at the highest level
Diastolic
Resting pressure and represents blood pressure at the lowest level
Osteoporosis
a condition associated with low bone density and fragile bones leading to high risk for fracture
What is chest pain called?
Angina Pectoris
