5) july days
6) trusting bolsheviksk in the kornilv revoltKerensky was from PS and worked from PG. they worked together at start, and PG comprised of : kadets octoberists liberals and Mensheviks and SRs - Order number 1 weakened PG
- Defeats in the war: decided to keep the war going so Germany wouldn’t make them harsh settlement fee. June offensive planned, was a FAILURE WITH 60K DEATHS.
- GERMANY IN APRIL SENT LENIN AND OTHER REVOKTUINARIWS TO RUSSIA IN ATTEMOTS TO STIR UP AND CAUSE UNREST. APRIL THESES
- JULY DAYS too
what was a soviet anyways
what bolsheviks do here
- 3000 elected members and contained many revolutinaries like mensheviks and SRs
- one rep became the main don
- petrograd soviet most influential and ruled along side PG to make dual power. in TAURIDE PALACE
- eventually bolsheviks got influence of PS, in which they attacked them for continuing the war, whereas PG though tthey had a duty and could still fight on
what was order number 1 again
where PS stated any order of PG rgading miliary affair were only valid if the PS apporved it, and as the army was in thir hands, this significantly weakedned what PG could and could not o
what happened in june offensive
PG convinced PS to do new offensive against germany
- yet failed and 60K yutes died
- germany also sent jailed revolutinaries like lenin over to stir beef
what else happened in june that backed the PG tho
all russian congress of soveits that are the reps from each soviet that meet up voted ror condifence in PG
but only an 1/8 were bolsheviks
okay so what were july days
why not du initally for bolsheviks but later it was long term
who became PM as a result
- This was a period of time when three days ,protesters took to streets of Russia where some soldiers and civilians, under the name of the bolsheviks tried to overthrow the provisional givenment. THIS BECAUSE OF FAILED JUNE OFFENSIVE GALICIAN FRONT !!- people were angry
As a result, Kerensky ordered troops to quash this, and the blame put on bolsheviks leaders like trotsky and Lenin who were exiled. 400 people died. =Bolsheviks seemed to be in bad spot, but actually they gained support and it was temporary setback, as they gained popularity in the end
- Desertations happening because of low morale, and soldiers coming back and SEZING LAND INSTEAD. Peasantry doing this too, and PG didn’t say anything either. Pg ordered for more manpower and Petrograd but soldiers didn’t care…
- not only that but Alexander kerensky became new prime minister in JUKY 8 1917…!! But because little had changed since the abdication, it wasn’t going well for PG, soldeirs and peasantry all despised it and were taking liking to bolsheviks ideas
what about the april theses?
what three statement he said
- Germany helped leading revolutionists back in. Lenin came and attempted to gain popularity with peace land and bread. Peace directed to ending of war, which would please soldiers who were deserting and INFLATION. Bread was for food, land was for appeal to peasantry “all land to the peasantry” who were dissatisfied the way they were released from serfs etc. Also population- Lenin said he would distribute it evenly.m
- “All power to soviets” made it clear they would end the pg
what was the Kornilov revolt
what kerensky do after the july days
what did kornilove want and who was he
how did bolsheviks stop it
what was their reputation after and what about PG, also what did they gain from this
- Kerensky appointed general kornilov, an extremely right wing conservatives who despised the socialist regime. He became chief commander but staged a state coup instead.
- Kornilov wanted war to continue but PS didn’t- wanted a miliary dictatorship
1) he came into petrograd and did a manifesto of - Wanted a constituent assembly
- attacking bolsheviks
- wanting a constiuent assembly
2) thenKerensky relied on bolsheviks for help so ministers were released so there would be considerable force against them
- .thus Bolshevik railwaymen convinced troops that Petrograd was calm and diverted them aWay, so troops never came. BOLSHEVIKS RED GUARDS were allowed to mobilise. Printers stopped publication for word to get around
- BOLSHEVISK SAVED FHE DAY and regained all, the popularity they lost . Gained a lot of power in soviets around the country, while PG reputation went down…
- Kornilov arrested
what happened after kornilov affair for the troops
what was lenin thinking
- As a result desertions all time low, no leader in army and soldiers were just dying. Kenernsky seemed incompetent but bolsheviks ideas appealing and they seemed heroes.- they showed they could save petrograd.
- even more prisoners got released
When Kerensky set the date for constituent assembly then Lenin decided it was time, considering they had weapons now too, for the revolt and that it was “ripe for plucking”
