Chapter 2 &8 Flashcards
What are the three parts to the human movement system
Nervous system, Muscular system , and skeletal system
Nervous systems basic unit and the three parts of it
Neuron and the three parts of it are axon Dendrites , and cell body
Muscular systems basic unit and what is at the center of it?
Sarcomere and there are myofilaments actin (thin) and myosin filaments (thick)
Skeletal system basic unit ? And how many bones are there
Osteon. There are 206 bones.
Difference between appendicular and axial bones? And how many are there of each.
Appendicular are freely moving and axial are fixed. 126 appendicular and 80 axial
What is Epimyosium
A sheath of connecting tissue surrounding the muscle
What is fascicle
Bundle of muscle fibers
What are type 1 muscle fiber characteristics
Slow twitch , aerobic /oxidative (uses fats as fuel) smaller more endurance more blood flow ,12+ reps
What are type 2 muscle fiber characteristics
Fast twitch, anaerobic (use carbs as fuel) larger, power and force production ,quick to fatigue, less blood flow, 1-12 reps.
What do catabolic hormones do and what are they?
They break down and they are Cortisol and Glucagon
Anabolic hormones do what? And what are they
They build up and they are insulin and testosterone
What does the pancreas produce?
Insulin
Agonist is?
The main mover of an exercise
Agonist and synergist of bench press?
pectorals and tricep
Agonist and synergist of lat pull down
Latissimus Dorsi and bicep
Agonist and synergist of military press
Deltoids (shoulders) and tricep
Agonist and synergist of squats
Quads/glutes and hamstrings
Antagonist is?
Opposite of agonist
Antagonist of bench press
Posterior deltoid
Antagonist lat pull down
Deltoid
Antagonist of military press
Back
Antagonist of squat
Psoas major
Antagonist of any upper body
Rotator cuff
Antagonist of any lower body
Core
What is a muscle spindle
Receptors sensitive to the change in length of the muscle and the rate of that change
Golgi Tendon organs
Receptors sensitive to change in tension of the muscle and the rate of that change
What are joint receptors
Receptors surrounding a joint that respond to pressure , acceleration , and deceleration of the joint
What is arthrokinematics
Joint motion
What type of joint primarily moves in one plane of motion?
Hinge
What does FITTE stand for
Frequency , Intensity , time , type , Enjoyment
VO2 max
Maximal oxygen consumption at maximal physical exertion
Talk test method is
subjective method of estimating appropriate cardiorespiratory exercise intensity. maintaining an intensity of exercise at which conversation is comfortable.
Boring scale (RPE)
Rate of perceived exertion. It is 6-20
