Chapter 2 Flashcards
Biomechanics?
Application of mechanical principles to biological systems.
Kinetics?
Branch that deals with the cause of motion.
Kinematics?
Description of motion (Acceleration, position, velocity, and displacement).
Isokinetic?
Velocity controlled contractions.
Order of muscle contraction strength?
- ECC
- ISOM
- CON
SSC?
Stretch-shortening cycle. Concentric quickly following and ecentric. Stretch reflex.
Torque?
Rotational force about a specific axis.
Sticking region?
Where the weight slows in a lift.
Ground Force reaction?
Newton’s third law. Ground supplies force to athlete who pushes on it.
Stability?
Somethings ability to resist changes in equalibrium.
Mass & Inertia?
The amount of matter an object takes up.
&
Resistance of an object to changing its motion.
