When did S&C gain popularity?
Mid-1800s to early 1900s. The Era of the Strongman.
Common myth of S&C?
RT creates a slower muscle bound athlete. This almost never accurate.
RT training is only for athletes. It can benefit blood pressure, blood fat, glucose levels, etc.

Benefits of RT?
Enhance health, well-being, and performance in clinical, fitness, and athletic populations.
Rehabilitation?
Implies injury or disease occurred. Individual trains to strengthen weakened area.
Pre-habilitation?
Injury prevention.
Maintenance Training?
To maintain off-season adaptation during the season.
Integrative Training?
Multiple goals sought after in training.
Health-related fitness components?
Work to improve quality of life, health, and wellness.
Muscular strength?
Maximum amount of force generated in a movement pattern
Muscular endurance?
The ability to sustain performance and resist fatigue.
Cardiovascular endurance?
Ability to perform aerobic exercise for a long duration.
Flexibility?
Ability to move joint through its ROM.
