Unsuccessful, land was poor and climate was too harsh for crops. Far from mainland, making it hard to sell products. Farmers had to result to logging in the winter
How many Brits immigrate to Canada? Why?
1840-1867, over 1/2 million, mostly Irish due to Potato Famine, die due to typhus on Grosse-Ile (quarantine) before arriving because of malnourishment and crowded, unsanitary ships
