is responsible for the collection, evaluation, dissemination and use of information relevant to the incident, also responsible for developing and updating the IAP
Division
represents a geographical operations, such as one floor or one side of the building
Group
represents a functional operation, such as ventilation
Unit
is a generic term that can be applied to either a geographical or functional component
Division are most often used
during routine fire department emergency operations
The unit is
the smallest organization element within the incident management system.
Effective communications among
Divisions and groups is critical during emergency operations
