Latency
Freud’s term for middle childhood, where their emotional and psychosexual drives are quiet. Freud thought that sexual conflicts from earlier stages are only temporarily submerged, bursting forth at puberty.

Assess ones abilities and attributes by measuring themselves with others, especially their peers.
Resilience
Capacity to adapt well to significant adversity and to overcome stress.
Family Structure
Legal and genetic relationship among family, all family members too.
Family Function
Way a family works to meet the needs of its members. Children need family for advantages in life.
Nuclear Family
Family consisting of a father, mother, and biological children.
Extended Family
Family of three or more generation living in one household.
Industry Versus Inferiority
Fourth of Erikson’s eight psychosocial crises, where children try to master many skills developing a sense of wether they are competent or incompetent.
Polygamous Family
Family consisting of one man, several wives, and their children.
Child Culture
Set of habits and styles reflecting rules and rituals characterizing children as distinct from adult society.
Aggressive-Rejected
Rejected by peers because of confrontational behavior.
Withdrawn-Rejected
Rejected of peers because of timid withdraw behavior.
Bullying
Systematic efforts to inflict harm through physical, verbal, and social attack on a weaker person.
Bully-Victims
People who attack others and are attacked as well.
