Needs are what we must have to survive
What are wants?
Wants are the xtras that make life more pleasant or comfortable

Guidelines for shopping
- always make a list and stick to it
- avoid going to shop for just one thing
- avoid impulse buying
- keep reciepts in case of problem
- look for quality and freshness
- avoid shopping when tired or hungry
- bring a shopping bag
What do barcodes do?
Bar codes give details of the products bought (size and brand) and ensure that till reciepts are more accurate
In what way has technology changed shopping?
Computerised tills are more accurate
What is a right?
Something a person is entitled to
What is a responsibility?
A responsibility is something you must do and for which you are answerable
What are a consumers rights?
- the right of choice
- the right to quality and value for money
- the right to accurate information
- the right to safety
- the right to redress
What are the consumer’s responsibilities?
- be informed about goods, services, prices amd consumer laws
- examine goods and services before buying
- read labels, follow intructions and consider warnings
- complain if consumer rights have been broken
- be enviromentally aware
