-total fertility rate reached record low 2020 1.58 children per women and though covid effected this, their is a dec in childbearing in uk/many western countries.

decline in childbearing: reason 1- changing women’s position

A

changes in gender roles, women want to focus more on their career first , so delaying childbearing. 1971-2012 rose 4y average
large families with numerious children are no longer the norm. to balance career + family, couples decide to havee fewer children or none. prediction says 1/4 of women born in 1973 with be childless at 45.
