cellular respiration Flashcards
what is the first step
glycolysis
where does the first step happen in
the cytoplasm
what does the fist stage from and how
glycolysis - it froms pyruvate from when gloucose breaks down but since its breaking it needs to use engery
2 adp to 2 atp that turn to 4 atp
then forms 2 NADH from NAD
what moves from first stage glyolysis to pre-krebs
its the 2 pryuvate that moves into it
where is pre-krebs take place
in the mitocondria
does glycolysis need o2
nope
does pre-krebs and krebs need o2
yes
one the c6 and pryuvate is in pre-krebs what happens to the c6
2 of the atoms turn and let of waste as co2
what happens to the other 4 atoms of c6 in pre-krebs
theyre fromed into 2 acetyle coa and in process let of NADH
what moves from pre-krebs to krebs cycle
the 2 acetyle coa moves into krebs
what does the 2 acetyle coa join to in the krebs cycle and what does it realease
it joins the 4 carbon (oxalocetate) then the 2 acetyle coa relase co2 and nad t nadh
after the 2 acetyle coa releases its first things what does it produce
after giving of waste co2 and nad to nadh since its realeaseing it uses energy so
makes atp then makes
another nad to nadh
then fad to fadh
overall how many things are made in the krebs cycle after 2 spins
6 nadh
2 fadh
2 atp
4 co2
what does nadh do
like delivery truck carries high energy in cells and grabs electrons / protons to make it energy then goes over and over
(like setting up the battery then to power cells)
what does fadh2 do
its like helper in cells takes electrons to make energy help cells have energy
(nadh and fadh2 are bascially same thing in this course)
