• ligand binds to receptor and causes the receptor to change conformation
• –it changes both sides of the membrane
• g-protein on inside of the membrane that gets activated when the conformational change occurs
• -conformational change causes g-protein to trade its gdp for a gtp
• the activated g-protein could then bind to adenylate cyclase
• adenylate cyclase makes cAMP (2nd messenger)
