- aka. abdomen

- space below abdominal cavity
- contains portions of intestines, rectum, urinary bladder, and reproductive organs
spinal cavity
- space within spinal column (backbones) containing the spinal cord
- aka. “spinal canal”
thoracic cavity
- space in chest containing heart, lungs, bronchial tubes, trachea, esophagus, and other organs
- contains pleural cavity and mediastinum
pleural cavity
- space between the pleural layers
- within thoracic cavity

region above the stomach
left hypochondriac region
left upper region below the rib cartilage
right lumbar region
right middle region near the waist
right hypochondriac region
right upper region below the cartilage of the ribs that extend over the abdomen
