What is causal attribution?
The explanation for the cause of your or another person’s behaviour
What is internal attribution?
Behaviour is explained by aspects of the person
What is external attribution?
Behaviour is explained by aspects of the situation
How are behavioural attributions made?
Made by weighing information about the potential causes of the behaviour
What is the covariation principle?
The idea that behavior should be attributed to potential causes that occur along with the observed behavior.
What is consensus (covariation principle)?
whether most people would behave the same way or differently in a given situation
What is distinctiveness (covariation principle)?
whether a behavior is unique to a particular situation or occurs in many or all situations.
