originally strong countries, meaning rich countries treat poor countries as if they were colonies
what is Evangelisation?
seeking to convert to Christianity
what is Great Commission?
Jesus’ last command to his disciples to go out and convert the world
what is a missionary?
a person sent by the Church into an area to bring people into the Christian Church
how is missionary and evangelical work carried out locally and globally?
- local churches which celebrate the Mass offer the sacraments to the people
- Churches together in England, which co-ordinates the work of groups such as Alpha
- they provide discussion and prayer groups, support the local Catholic Christian schools and provide social facilities
why is missionary and evangelical work important for Catholics?
- evangelising is the Great Commission of Jesus
- Christians believe that being a Christian helps people to share God’s love
- it gives strength to cope with life and assures people a place in heaven
