What is CVD?
Cardiovascular disease is an umbrella term for illnesses that affect the heart and circulation
What does CVD involve?
A heart disease (CHD) and stroke
How does CVD occur?
When one or more of the coronary arteries are blocked by fatty deposits/cholesterol on its walls
What happens when the artery has a build up?
It reduces blood flow to the heart, forcing it to work harder. If it becomes completely blocked, blood cannot flow and it results in a heart attack
What happens when an artery to the brain gets blocked?
A stroke
Is eating too much saturated fat a lifestyle or dietary disorder?
Dietary.
Is eating too much salt a lifestyle or dietary factor?

Increases your cholesterol levels

Increases your blood pressure, which puts a strain on blood vessels,

Damages heart muscles, abnormal heart rhythms, increases blood pressure
What does smoking do?
Doubles the risk of CHD, reduces oxygen reaches the heart, damages artery lining
