Cardiac Equations Flashcards
Flow/ Cardiac Output
q/ co= (mean arterial pressure- mean venous pressure)/ total peripheral resistance
(given in volume/ unit time)
Velocity
v= Q/ cross-sectional area
Poiseulle (relationship between pressure, length, radius, viscosity, and flow)
Q= Delta P* ((Pi*r^4)/(8nl)), where n is viscosity
Resistance= (8nl)/(Pi*r^4)
Pulse Pressure
PP= Peak systolic- end diastolic
Directly proportional to stroke volume, inversely proportional to arterial compliance
Mean Arterial Pressure
MAP= 2/3 diastolic + 1/3 systolic
Compliance
C= Change in Volume/ Change in Pressure
Law of LaPlace (Transmural Tension)
T= (Change in pressure * radius of vessel)/mu
Stroke Volume
SV= End Diastolic Volume - End Systolic Volume
Ejection Fraction
EF= (EDV-ESV)/EDV
