Q

3 Upward Bumps on R Atrial Pressure Curve

A

a - just after P, atrial contraction
c - just after QRS, tricuspid valve bulging into atrium caused by ventricular systole
v - just after T/closing of R semilunar valve, atrial filling switches to emptying when tricuspid opens to begin filling vent

Q

4 Heart Sounds

A

S1 - Closing of AV valves
S2 - Closing semilunar valves
S3 - Rapid vent filling (children and YAs, later could indicate heart failure)
S4 - (rare) Atrial contraction and stiff ventricle

Q

3 Determinants/Equations of End Diastolic Volume

A

Filling Pressure: BFin = (FP - VP)/R
Heart Rate: time(diastole) = 1/HR - time(systole)
Compliance = DeltaV/DeltaP. V of vent = C and DeltaP of vent
