A

growth by mitosis tightly controlled, DNA in nucleus telling cells when to divide and when to stop

sometimes, changes take place in these genes leading to uncontrolled growth and mitosis, producing a tumour

what are benign tumours

A

growths of abnormal cells which are found in one area

usually contained by a membrane, therefore don’t invade other parts of the body

how to malignant spread

A

malignant cells invade neighbouring tissues and move into the bloodstream

then spread to different parts of the body and form new tumours, called secondary tumours
