Calvin Cycle - Photosynthesis Flashcards
1
Q
1.
A
CO2 combines with RuBP to form 2 x GP (3C). This is catalysed by Rubisco (RuBP carboxylase).
2
Q
2.
A
GP is reduced to TP using H from oxidation of reduced NADP and energy from hydrolysis of ATP to ADP + Pi. (reduced NADP and ATP produced in light-dependent stage).
3
Q
3.
A
Most TP (3C) converted back to RuBP(5C) using energy from hydrolysis of ATP to ADP + Pi, this also provides phosphate needed.
4
Q
4.
A
Some TP leaves the cycle and is used to make carbohydrates, glycerol, fatty acids (allowing lipid synthesis) and amino acids (allowing protein synthesis).
5
Q
In what conditions does it occur?
A
Its light-independent but there has to be presence of CO2.
6
Q
Where does it occur?
A
Stroma.
