Q

Coronary artery disease CAD (IHD),

A

also called Ischaemic heart disease
caused by atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries
- lipid fat driven immune / inflammatory disease of medium and large arteries,
- narrowing of the artery lumen (stenosis) by plaque
- leads to ischaemia
- leads to stable or exertional angina
- if the lead plaque ruptures, the artery can become occluded (blocked) leading to an acute coronary syndrome
