A

organs are either suspended by double folds of the peritoneum ( membrane) or
bound to the postrior abdominal wall.
some organs are located posterior to the peritoneum and are termed retoperitoneal ( kindeys, glans and ureters)

Digestive system

A

Oral cavity , teeth pulverse , salva softens and partly digestes th efood.
Tongue assist with mechanical manipulation.
Boluses of food move down th e oespphagus due to regular peristaltic contractions and enter the stomach.

Stomach : chemical digestion resulting in the formation of semi fluid mass CHYME.
small intestine for further digestin , aided by bile from the gallbladder, passed down via bile duct into the duodenum . it helps digest fat and neutralise stomach acid. Small intestine absorbs molecular size nutrients to blood and lymph capillaries to the liver processing.
The large intstine absorbs minerals and wter .

  • the site ,intenity, character, duration and frequency of the pain,
  • aggravating and reliving factors
  • associated symptoms, including non-gastrointestial symptoms

Abdominal pain

A
  • Leaking or ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
  • Appendictis (pain may start in the periumbilical area, and settle in the right lowerquadrant but may varry , genralised pain, distension and decreased bowel sounds)
  • Acute cholecystitis - sharp pain in the right upper quadrnat, right shouldre tip pain, worse when breathing deeply and on palpitation
    Intestinal obstruction - pain is cramping in nature
    Peptic ulcer - erosion of the lining of the stomach or small intestine forming an ulcer
    Acute pancretitis - inflammation , onstant pain in the upper left and /or middle radiating to the back.
    Diverticular disease - inflammation of the iverticula in the large intestine, pain lower left quadrant
    Etopic pregnancy - severe lower abdo pain, shoulder tip pain , feeling faint/collapse
