C2 - Use Portable Tools LT #3 Hammer Flashcards
What precautions should be taken when handling carbide-tipped bits?
1) Don’t drop onto hard surfaces
2) Don’t lever when in holes
3) Store so tips are protected and won’t rattle against eachother
How is a cut started when using a demolition hammer?
Down into the concrete near edge area then angled
What is the hammer drill mainly used for?
To drill small-diameter holes up to 20 mm (3/4”) in concrete using the hammer mode
When is rotary-only mode used on a hammer drill?
To drill holes in steel and wood.
What is a rotary hammer used for?
Can handle most drilling jobs, also used for light chiselling and demolition work.
A rotary hammer is ideal for setting an anchor why?
Rotary mode drills and hammer mode sets the anchor
Rotary hammers, depending on the size, can drill how deep?
50-mm to 150 mm
Rotary-hammer mode is used for drilling which materials?
For concrete, rotary-only mode is used for most other kinds.
How can you make sure the depth of the hole is accurate?
Using a depth-gauge
How can you drill large-diameter holes in concrete?
Using a large drill or rotary hammer in drill-only mode, a core bit can be used
What is a core bit?
a hollow, cylindrical drill bit that is usually closed at one end and has a series of cutting teeth at the open end. Cutting teeth usually impregnated with undustrial diamonds.
Demolition hammers are also known as what?
