What is the purpose of a building bylaw?
1) Apply building code
2) Issue permits

What is the purpose of a development permit?
Protect sensitive areas where special care is needed.
Eg, environmental, heritage designations, flood plain requirements, groundwater protection or soil conditions.

4) Certificate of title

Insure that zoning and BC building Code requirements are met.
What permit is required to use a section of a municipality’s sidewalk for construction purposes?
A hoarding permit
What are the requirements to obtain a gas permit?
Gas, rough in, and a sprinkler
What is a permit?
An official doc. stating the specific building activity has been approved and is PERMITTED.
Who is responsible for inspections?
The local Govt. or provincial authority who issues the permit will inspect and enforce permit requirements.
What is a zoning bylaw?
A bylaw that regulates land use and building location.
What is the building bylaw?
A bylaw for the administration and enforcement of the BC Building Code.
