Top-down arguments are arguments where the author begins with a thesis or conclusion and spends the remainder of the passage explaining their points. Conversely, bottom-up arguments begin with a more narrative description of various factors that eventually lead us to the author’s ultimate conclusion. Looking at the question stem, the first argument has a top-down structure, while the second one has a bottom-up structure
