1
Q
How much of the skeleton is remodeled every year?
A
1/5
2
Q
Which bone has the most remodeling?
A
Femur (in the epiphyses)

The more you exercise / are active.
4
Q
The simultaneous breakdown (reabsorbstion by osteoclasts) and rebuilding (deposition) of new bone by osteoblasts.
A
In general this is bone remodeling
5
Q
What are the Purposes for Remodeling?
A
a. To Adjust Bone to Stress
b. To Increase Length and Diameter of Medullary Cavity as bone grows
c. To Regulate Calcium Levels in the Body
6
Q
How do the bones adjust to stress?
A
- The slight bending of bones as muscles pull on them causes remodeling.
- Electrical signals tell bone when to tear down and when to build up.
