Which medium provides most slip?
Oil. Can be used on most skin types, most suitable for normal and hairy areas.
Which massage medium would you select for dry skin?
Cream - richer in consistency.
Which massage medium may require subsequent application because it can be easily absorbed into the skin?
Emulsion - oil and water based.
What is the benefit of gel based medium?
Water based suitable for oily or normal skin. Light in formulation. Good for clients who don’t like to feel greasy.
When would you use powder?
When deeper massage required as less slip. Good for greasy skin or sweaty client.
What products can be rubbed over skin prior to treatment?
witch hazel or antiseptic
How would you instruct client to get ready?
Remove clothes except underwear. Remove jewellery. Lie on couch. Give them privacy.
Explain the three positions for massage.
Supine - lying on back. support can be used.
Prone - lying on front.
Seated - ideal for pregnant or elderly. sit back to front on chair and lean forwards.
