Balanced with short, level back. Ribs well sprung, deep and oval. Loin short coupled, deep brisket running up into definite waist.
Basenji
Topline straight and level. Chest let down to below elbow. Ribs well sprung and extending well back. Short in the couplings but well balanced. Loins powerful and supple, without excessive tuck-up.
Beagle
Ribs well sprung, chest well let down between forelegs forming a deep keel. Back and loins strong, the latter deep and slightly arched.
Bloodhound
Withers: Clearly defined, especially in males.
Back: Rather short, level and muscular.
Loin: Short and muscular.
Croup: Of medium length, well developed and slightly sloping.
Chest: Long, reaching almost to the elbows, not very broad. The ribs are slightly sprung; the fore chest normally developed, not very prominent.
Underline and belly: Slightly tucked up.
Finnish Spitz
Chest deep, ribs well sprung. Back broad and level with a slight rise over strong loins.
Foxhound
Chest deep, ribs well sprung and running well back with plenty of heart room. Back broad and level, not dipping behind the withers, slight arching over the loin.
Harrier
Powerful; short, strong back; loin short and wide with very little tuck-up; chest deep and broad; well curved ribs; topline straight and level; distance from brisket to ground not less than half the height at withers.
Norwegian Elkhound
Chest deep with well sprung, fairly deep, oval ribcage. Ribs carried well back allowing plenty of heart and lung room; neither too wide nor too narrow. Body very strong, with level top line and broad back. Loin short and strong.
